2025 Board

After six years of infertility, two egg retrievals, multiple miscarriages, and failed transfers, Amber and her husband, Alex, turned to embryo adoption. Their journey was anything but straightforward, but on their ninth transfer, they finally found success! Through it all, they experienced the highs and lows of infertility and discovered the importance of a strong, supportive community.

Now, Amber is thrilled to step into the role of President of KCinfertility, with a heartfelt mission to ensure that no one walks this journey alone. She is dedicated to fostering connection and support for those navigating infertility, helping them find hope in what can often feel like an isolating experience.
Amber has spent most of her career in education and is deeply involved in her community, volunteering for the city of Prairie Village and working at her church. After years of struggle and pain, she wanted something good to come from her experience. Giving back to the KC Infertility community that supported her felt like the perfect way to turn her journey into something meaningful.

Kacie joined the KCinfertility board in 2022 and served 3 years as the Support Group co-chair. She is excited to be in the role of vice president and events chair for 2025.

Kacie and her husband, Kyle, got married in 2017 but at the time weren’t in a rush to grow their family. In early 2019 Kacie started seeing a new OB/GYN. It was there that she was diagnosed with PCOS and was referred to an RE. Over the next year they tried timed intercourse and medicated cycles and found no success. After a short break in 2020 they regrouped and tried several IUIs but once again found no success. In 2021 as they were preparing to begin IVF they were shocked to find out that they had spontaneously gotten pregnant. They welcomed their miracle daughter in December of 2021. Kacie and Kyle have continued to try to grow their family however are still waiting for another miracle.

Kacie has been an educator for over 10 years. She and her family live in Shawnee. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling and watching or attending sporting events.

Alyssa Campbell is the Co-Chair of the KCinfertility Support Group, a role she will officially assume in January 2025 after previously moderating the online support group since January 2023. Alyssa joined the support group in 2020 during its virtual phase, seeking connection and understanding during a challenging period in her life.

Alyssa and her husband Jacob were married in 2018. They were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. After six months of trying naturally, seven cycles of oral medications, two egg retrievals, three embryo transfers, and three miscarriages along the way, Alyssa and Jacob welcomed their twin daughters in 2023.

Alyssa joined the board of KCinfertility because the support group provided her with invaluable guidance and companionship during some of her darkest times. She is passionate about ensuring that others facing similar challenges feel less alone and empowered to share their stories without shame. Through her role, she aims to educate those around her and foster a community of support and understanding.

Alyssa and her family currently live in Leavenworth, KS. In addition to her work with KC infertility, Alyssa is a registered nurse working PRN at two of the local hospitals.

Katie has battled infertility for nearly 11 years dating back to 2012. After 3 rounds of failed IUI’s, 3 fertility clinics, 2 surgeries for endometriosis and PCOS, 2 failed IVF cycles and 1 failed frozen embryo transfer, Katie and her husband Chad finally welcomed their baby girl in November of 2023 via FET through KU Health Systems. It’s been quite the journey and something Katie and her family could not have done without the continued support of her community and tribe of people.

Katie joins the KCinfertility Board as a Support Group Co-Chair and is thrilled and excited to be in a position to help others who are going through the journey of infertility. This organization and experience of infertility is so very near and dear to her heart, being a member and giving back is such a small token to be able to be a part of something bigger than all of us.

Katie currently lives in Shawnee, KS with her family and is the Chief Human Resources Officer for a Right of Way firm based out of Sugarland, TX.

Anna joined the KCinfertility board in 2023 as Co-Chair of Support Group. She found KCinfertility the year before with a simple internet search and she is so blessed that she did! Being a part of KCinfertility has not only provided her with support, but also reminded her that she is never alone on her journey. As Support Group Co-Chair, Anna is passionate about creating a space where fellow infertility warriors can find comfort, understanding, and connection. Her hope is to offer a safe, welcoming environment where people can share their experiences, find support and truly be themselves. She is incredibly honored to be a part of this amazing community and looks forward to supporting others who are navigating the challenges of infertility.

Anna and her husband, Brett, began trying to grow their family in 2020. After a year of unsuccessful attempts, they were referred to a reproductive endocrinologist that was able to dive into fertility issues for both of them. Over the course of their journey, they went through timed medicated cycles, 5 unsuccessful IUIs, and ultimately IVF in 2022. This was far from the path they envisioned, but they are forever grateful for modern medicine and God’s grace. In October of 2023, they welcomed their miracle baby girl. Along the way, Anna has been a strong advocate for infertility awareness, sharing her experiences with counseling, acupuncture, and even wive’s tales that helped her through the toughest moments.

This is Crystal’s first year on the KCinfertility Board, and she hopes to share
her passion of bringing awareness to infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and surrogacy with the Kansas City community. Although her full-time job is as an attorney, she spent the last 7 years with a part-time gig of navigating the world of infertility and recurrent loss.

Crystal and her husband married in the summer of 2018, and they were immediately surprised and excited to get pregnant shortly thereafter, only to realize they were starting an unimaginably challenging road to start their family. Over the next two years, Crystal experienced 3 spontaneous pregnancies, all ending in loss. She then sought assistance from an RE, they did 2 IUIs and a round of IVF. After seeking additional assistance from acupuncturists, naturopathics, and a reproductive immunologist, they still experienced 3 more losses with their genetically healthy embryos. After trying everything they could think of for 5 years, they eventually started down the path of surrogacy. After taking some time to heal, they found an amazing gestational carrier who brought their daughter into the world in October 2023.
Crystal and her family reside in Shawnee, KS. She and her husband love spending time outdoors, at the lake, and traveling, while sharing their passion for adventure with their young daughter!

Melisa Miller was diagnosed with fertility complications six years ago after enduring two years of undiagnosed hormone related health issues. After several unsuccessful cycles—timed, medicated, and complicated by various hormone related challenges—Melisa and her husband were referred to a fertility clinic, where a more comprehensive diagnosis was made. They have faced the heartache of four miscarriages and are now parents to one living child.

Though their path to parenthood was not what they imagined since being together as teenagers, Melisa and her husband remain hopeful, feeling deeply blessed by their child, and continue their efforts to expand their family.

Driven by a passion to help others, Melisa shares her personal story to offer hope, encouragement, and healing, both for herself and others walking similar paths. Using her experiences, she became a birth and bereavement doula, offering compassionate care to her community.

A member of the KCinfertility group since 2021, Melisa found comfort and strength in knowing she was not alone during some of her darkest moments.
In 2025, she joins the KCinfertility Board as Support Group Co-Chair, motivated by a strong desire to give back and support others on their own fertility journeys.

Anna Nayeri is a Quality Control Supervisor at MilliporeSigma. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, hiking, and engaging in gardening and canning activities.

Anna and her husband began trying to conceive in September 2021 and pursued fertility treatments starting in January 2023 due to unexplained infertility. Over the course of 2023, they experienced three unsuccessful IUI cycles, two rounds of IVF, and a failed frozen embryo transfer. In 2024, the couple endured a biochemical pregnancy following a frozen embryo transfer but chose to proceed with another IVF cycle. That same year, they relocated to Kansas City and began the process of becoming licensed foster parents. During this time, the couple had a successful embryo transfer and are now expecting their first child in May 2025.
Anna is excited to join the board and contribute to making a meaningful impact for other couples navigating infertility.

Emily Skillman began her infertility journey in 2015 when she and her husband tried to grow their family. After a year of trying on their own, then many months of timing medications, she was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. She had four unsuccessful IUI’s before moving onto IVF in 2018. In 2019, their prayers were answered with a sweet baby boy. Emily and her husband have been blessed with two more IVF miracles born in 2021 and 2023.

Emily is excited to join the KCinfertility board as Secretary. Emily has a passion for walking alongside other women journeying through infertility. She wants others to know they are not alone, and that they are seen and loved. She is looking forward to turning her journey into an encouragement to others.

Emily and her family live in Olathe, KS. She also serves as the Packing Party Coordinator for the nonprofit Lullaby of Hope. Emily was an educator, but is loving her current role as a stay at home mom with her 3 children.

After nearly four years, several procedures, and going through the process of acquiring a donated embryo, AnnMarie and her husband welcomed a new member to their family in 2024. Throughout this journey, they connected with many others facing similar challenges, finding comfort and strength in shared experiences.

Now, AnnMarie is honored to serve on the KCinfertility board, giving back to a community that offers hope and support to so many. With nearly 20 years of nonprofit experience in volunteer engagement, marketing, and community outreach, she is passionate about fostering connections and creating meaningful impact. She looks forward to helping others find the encouragement, resources, and sense of belonging that made a difference in her own journey.
