My life changed overnight when, at 31, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Everything paused—my career, marriage, family plans, goals, and dreams, so I could focus entirely on survival.

As we prepared to begin chemotherapy, my best friend, an oncology nurse, asked a question that stopped me in my tracks: “Has anyone talked to you about your fertility?” No one had, and honestly, I hadn’t even thought about it. In a whirlwind, I fast-tracked egg freezing and started medication to protect my reproductive system during treatment. Thankfully, I went into remission. But the journey wasn’t over.

When my husband and I were ready to start a family, we struggled to conceive. Cancer had already drained much of our savings, and now we faced the emotional and financial challenges of IVF. It wasn’t easy, but it eventually gave us our daughter. She is our light in a life that has seen more than its share of darkness, and we are endlessly grateful for the science and support that made her possible.

When you’re spending thousands of dollars on something that’s supposed to come naturally, and does for so many, every bit of support feels deeply meaningful. Every woman walking this path is deserving of compassion, care, and help.

I’m incredibly honored and grateful to have received a grant from KCinfertility. I wish fertility treatments were fully covered by insurance, or that the challenges of infertility were talked about more openly. I wish every woman struggling to conceive could access the care she needs without financial burden—but that’s not the world we live in.

That’s why organizations like KCinfertility matter so much. They bring hope exactly where it’s needed most, and I’m forever thankful.

Hi! I’m Jamie. My husband Drew and I started our adoption journey in 2022. We adopted our son, Myles, in January 2024. We welcomed our second son, Liam, in August 2024. Adoption has changed our lives and we are so grateful for our two blessings.

This grant made adoption possible for us! We experienced a disruption and had to rebuild our funds. KC infertility grant helped us to meet our goal and bring home our son.

We were so incredibly grateful when we got our grant. It made such a huge impact to the financial stress that comes with fertility treatments. We had been doing IUIs for almost a year and had found out our next step was IVF. We were so stressed and had already spent so much money. We decided to apply for grants to help with the commit and take a break from treatments for a few months to reset. In this time, we actually found out we were pregnant naturally. After about a week of finding out, KCinfertility called us to tell us we won a grant! We were so thankful but told them we had just found out we were pregnant. They asked us if we had debt from fertility treatments and we said yes. They still offered to help pay off our debt to the fertility company. It was such a big relief to have that debt paid off.

Our family building journey was rocky to put it lightly. Years of fertility treatments, an adoption that fell through after we had custody of the baby for over a week, and ultimately IVF. As difficult as it all was, though, I would do it again in a heartbeat to have our children. We are so incredibly grateful to have our boys and they light up our world every day.

Receiving a KCinfertility grant gave us the opportunity to pursue IVF and ultimately gave us both of our sons. Every step of the way towards growing our family was met with large bills and the grant helped ease the burden.
